Today is Ascencion Day, “fathers’ day” in Germany, a holiday. And of course this means a day of fishing for me, no matter what!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>But that was easier said than done, because a dramatic change in the weather made fishing a little challenging. Rain poured from the sky and the thunder rolled… and when the “lightshow” finally started I took a little break under a bridge.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>But the thunderstorm passed by, and I was happy to continue my fishing. The rain had driven most promenaders away, and I did not see any other fishermen either. So I enjoyed the silence, the fresh green on the river banks, the loneliness, and the beautiful browns that I caught. Although the big ones did not show up today, the trouts were so beautifully colored that I admired each single one of them.<\/p>\n

Fly choice is a little difficult at the moment: We have a lot of rising insects already but most fish haven’t yet discovered them as food. So in some spots and especially in the late evening, dry flies are catching really good already, while at other times, nymphs and streamers prove most effective. Today was a streamer day again, but it can’t take long until dry fly season finally starts – and I am really looking forward to it!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
