I had been looking forward to the opening of pike season (16th may) for quite some time. Trout are beautiful and I love ’em, but a pike on fly tackle is special… \"\"<\/a>Many evenings had I spent in anticipation tying and refining streamers patterns and preparing leaders.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But what awaited me that day, was just unbelievable! I knew there were good pike in that stream, but what happened that day was just insane! This little stream is small, and most fishing is done from the banks.<\/p>\n

But to properly fight larger fish, I sometimes enter the water, so the fish don’t cut me off in the roots of trees and in the branches of overhanging bushes… but this specific spot had a deep riffle running just in front of me. Unfortunately I learned that the hard way, when I tried to net the pike for the first time and suddenly felt no ground below me \ud83d\ude42 Anyway, crazy fight, heart pumping, but a happy angler in the end!<\/p>\n
