Yesterday I just wanted to try a few nymphs I had tied “freestyle” during the afternoon…

…so I went to the water to make a couple of casts and fish for two hours or so… october is a wonderful month, the forest shines in the brightest shades of yellow and orange, the days are still warm but the nights are cool and refreshing! A delight after this record summer!

And of course, there are the graylings! October is among the best months to fish for them.

Well… the first take was not a mere take but rather an impact! I saw the flank of a really large fish in the depth of the pool and tried to keep calm! Was it possible… could it be? When I had it in the net after some nervous minutes, I pulled out my measuring tape and now was sure: this was my new PB, the best grayling I have caught so far! With 55cm in length, this is an extraordinary fish and there are probably not many waters in Europe, where you can catch graylings of this size… is this the grayling-of-a-lifetime for me? Can it get any better?
