The browntrout-season is over, but still some great flyfishing is on! While the trouts are reducing their food intake with approaching spawning-season and with cooling water, graylings are highly active!
You can see them standing in the current as soon as your eyes have adapted. They are perfectly camoflaged in front of the ground – they are light over sand, and dark over gravel… and when you have stared into the water for a while, suddenly the graylings seem to appear in front of your eyes.
In times like these, you dont want the day to end! You can catch one graying after the other, beautiful fish with rainbow-colored fins, sturdy fighters and yet with a delicate, elegant shape that some say are somewhat feminine.
Today was such a day, I probably caught more than 20 graylings of all sizes, from tiny 10cm to around 45cm in just a few hours… and when my wife called me on the cellphone, I could hardly believe how late it already was… Time runs fast when you fish.
