I had been looking forward to the opening of pike season (16th may) for quite some time. Trout are beautiful and I love ’em, but a pike on fly tackle is special… Many evenings had I spent in anticipation tying and refining streamers patterns and preparing leaders.

But what awaited me that day, was just unbelievable! I knew there were good pike in that stream, but what happened that day was just insane! This little stream is small, and most fishing is done from the banks.

But to properly fight larger fish, I sometimes enter the water, so the fish don’t cut me off in the roots of trees and in the branches of overhanging bushes… but this specific spot had a deep riffle running just in front of me. Unfortunately I learned that the hard way, when I tried to net the pike for the first time and suddenly felt no ground below me 🙂 Anyway, crazy fight, heart pumping, but a happy angler in the end!

Hope you like my little video, please don’t be to hard on me, it is one of the first ones I’ve made…
